Running Accomplishments:

Started  running in 05

Qualified for Boston May 18th at Cleveland. 312:05

Here are my PB's

Marathon 309:48  (Detroit 08)

Boston marathon 314

Half 121:52 July 09 - Running from Cancer Tecumseh

10 mile run 102:06 / 59:09 TM -09

10k - 35:29 (TM)  36:46 won the race outright, Sept 08

5k - 16:59 August 09

Short-Term Running Goals:

Under 3 hours for a marathon.  This spring however I want to break 310 and qualify for Boston, I only need 315.  DID IT!! 312:05 - 309:48

Run a solid Boston Marathon and shoot for sub 3 fall 09, eventually want to run under 2:50

I want to break 36 mins in a 10 k race.

I want to break 17 mins in a 5 k if not lower.

Basically I want to see how far I can actually go in running, who knows.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to run as long as I can, it is life fuel.  I am a Chiropractor and it is a good example for my pts and also my family who runs also.

Most importantly I want to be the best I can be to my family.

And yes run sub 3 fall 09.  run 103 at the CRIM, break 36 for a 10k race, break 17 for a 5k.  Oh ya, run a half one of these days and break 124. Did it 121 this summer

Personal:

Married with 3 children.  5 year old son named Julian, 2 year old Sadie and Elliot who is 7 months.  Life is busy but fun and I believe we are living it to the fullest, running helps me do this.

Live in Windsor Ontario, love to vacation in our condo in Naples Florida.

My wife and I are both Chiropractors

3.4 miles too many this week.

Requested an MRI yesterday and was able to get one by noon helps to know someone in the hospital world.

I have a sacral stress fracture (sacral ila)  It is very rare but happens with distance runners.  Because I knew the radiologist we were really interested in the mri pictures because it was so evident I was actually quite interested because I am a chiropractor then I realized it was my pictures I was looking at!  Anyway I can't run for 4-6 weeks, all the little half mile's over the last 2 weeks I have been trying have not been worth it so it helps to have a correct dx because I was sure it was a torn glute muscle.

I have found a great pool running program so I am pretty happy because its really a great workout, today I did a 25 minute tempo run (hard) and I found that to be much harder than a 5 mile race.  The study shows you can keep your vo2 max and conditioning up while in recover mode so I have nothing to loose.

I am not going to log my pool runs on the computer because I still don't like looking at my empty running schedule.

So to all you who are running a marathon this fall best of luck and my sub 3 will have to wait until Boston unless I sneak a secret marthon in Nov/Dec.

Todd,

Bummed about your injury, yet glad you figured out what it was. With rest and patience I know you'll come back stronger. Maybe I'll meet you in Boston next year. Good luck in your recovery.

Thanks Dave,

Run well Dave and good luck on your fall marathon. The pool running is giving me confidence that all is not lost and I look foward to getting back after our family cruise at the end of the month. Taking the kids with us to Barcelona then on a 7 day cruise should be fun. The whole idea was to run the Toronto then have a vacation, oh well.

Talk soon.

Sorry about the knee injury but it is good to at least be able to name the pain so you can get the proper treatment. Praying for a fast and good recovery.

Been some extra praying going on that is for sure. Overall its been a successful summer, I am glad I had a fast half marathon race in and some other road races. Might sneak a late marathon in before Boston or a couple half marathon's if possible.

I am quite surprised how great the pool running is, I will for sure do this even when I am back at it. For example today's workout was 12 times 2min hard with 30 seconds recovery, great workout. Gives me hope that I can maintain my speed and some fitness over the next 3-5 weeks before I start up.

Thanks for the prayers right back at you. Send me one when your having one of your good runs!!

Todd...I'm glad for you that you were able to get a MRI and figure out what the injury acually was.

Aqua jogging is a great form of cross training...thats what I did every day during my injury.

This injury of yours might turn out to be a greater 'prize' than a sub-3 this fall!

Good luck and stay motivated...this will pass!

Brian.

Thanks Brian,

Everything happens for a reason, I had some great runs this summer and got caught stepping over the threshold line. It's tough not being able to achieve a marathon under 3 hours this fall espcially with the numbers I put up this summer but at the same time I think this was bound to happen and now I have some light on how I want to change things going forward to Boston. Yes I will get my sub 3 but now I know its a lot more than just about running a certain time. I also know that I am going to start biking and swimming, maybe a half iron man next year!! However I do look forward to our trips to Boston.

I hope to see you at Racing the Vine on Saturday, I can't believe it is here and I can't run my own charity!! Oh well I will be the host and cheer everyone on. Hoping to reach the 200 plus participants, looks like fantastic weather too.

Todd
