Running Accomplishments:

Started  running in 05

Qualified for Boston May 18th at Cleveland. 312:05

Here are my PB's

Marathon 309:48  (Detroit 08)

Boston marathon 314

Half 121:52 July 09 - Running from Cancer Tecumseh

10 mile run 102:06 / 59:09 TM -09

10k - 35:29 (TM)  36:46 won the race outright, Sept 08

5k - 16:59 August 09

Short-Term Running Goals:

Under 3 hours for a marathon.  This spring however I want to break 310 and qualify for Boston, I only need 315.  DID IT!! 312:05 - 309:48

Run a solid Boston Marathon and shoot for sub 3 fall 09, eventually want to run under 2:50

I want to break 36 mins in a 10 k race.

I want to break 17 mins in a 5 k if not lower.

Basically I want to see how far I can actually go in running, who knows.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to run as long as I can, it is life fuel.  I am a Chiropractor and it is a good example for my pts and also my family who runs also.

Most importantly I want to be the best I can be to my family.

And yes run sub 3 fall 09.  run 103 at the CRIM, break 36 for a 10k race, break 17 for a 5k.  Oh ya, run a half one of these days and break 124. Did it 121 this summer

Personal:

Married with 3 children.  5 year old son named Julian, 2 year old Sadie and Elliot who is 7 months.  Life is busy but fun and I believe we are living it to the fullest, running helps me do this.

Live in Windsor Ontario, love to vacation in our condo in Naples Florida.

My wife and I are both Chiropractors

Did the loop around Vanderbilt with Julian 4 miles and then Elliot 4 miles in the evening.  So nice to be on vacation and run just to enjoy dinner and that cold beer.

Used to love intervals not so much now after the injury.  Oh well always nice to finish them especially on holidays in Naples.

6 times 800's with 1 min jog between.  Avg was 3:02.

Felt decent.

Welcome to the blog! That's cool you're a chiropractor. Chiropractic has done a lot for my own running.

From smally on Tue, Dec 25, 2007 at 14:14:37

Thanks Paul,

So many people don't understand that Chiropractic enhances the master controler of the body which is the nervous system. Then there is mechanics and we both know how important that is when it comes to running.

Merry Christmas and thanks for the welcome. Did a nice easy half marathon today, longest run since my injury in Sept.

Have a great day

What a great Christmas morning with the kids.  My wife did her 5k run and then I was planning on running 8 miles easy but ended up running a half marathon, 7:35 avg, the weather in Naples is so nice not race conditions but a pleasant Christmas morning run.  It was so nice to see lots of people running today.

Merry Christmas to who ever reads this.

Welcome to the blog! That is so cool that you are a chiropractor. Whenever someone is feeling "off" when they run I tell them to go to a chiro. It's helped me out so many times. We will really appreciate the expertise you have. Check out the discussion forum for some of the medical question/discussions people have about running. Some of the stuff might be right up your ally.

Sorry about your stress fracture! Glad you are back at it. Good luck with your BQ this spring.

This running blog is another way to stay motivated.

Happy trails and boxing day.

Met Matt and his buddies from the Naples running club.  Did 2.5 warm up and cool down.

6 tempo, 3 miles at 6:59 and then picked it up for the last 3 miles at 6:39.

Felt a bit like before the stress fx.  Its so nice running at 530 am with no shirt, knowing that back home its cold and snowy.  Back to reality on the first of Jan.

Happy holidays everyone.

If anyone has any Chiropractic questions, fire away, I love talking about mechanics and overall wellness.  Once I figure out how to compress a picture I will through a picture of myself and my family.  Runners high right now, better stop writing.

Good job on the tempo. So how do you know when a stress fracture is healed?

From MichelleL on Thu, Dec 27, 2007 at 21:47:11

I'm lucky to have quick access to an MRI which gave me an idea of the degree of stress fx. It was funny one day it still hurt and then all of a sudden the next day I ran 6 miles with little discomfort.

But I would not wish this injury on anyone, I remember waking up for our baby to feed him and I was almost in tears just walking with him and yet I thought I would wake up healed.

Nice PB's, wow.

can't seem to fight this cough, only time I don't cough is when I am running.  Was going to do 16 tomorrow, going to skip and do an easy run and hopefully get a long run in the next 3 days before its back to Windsor and the cold weather.

Today I ran an easy 3.75 miles 735avg and then saw some runners way ahead of me and kicked it for the last 1.25 miles, love playing catch up.  Avg 6:18

Really hot out, if I do the long run I will have to get up and start around 5:15-5:30

Still coughing a lot, hate feeling ok but can't kick the itch.

Ran 5 with Julian who is almost 6, we stopped once to look at turtles, it was really hot, great sweat, glad I left the watch at home, seemed really slow.

3 more running days in Florida, will get a 16 in on the 31st.

Todd, your running times look really good, keep it up. You mentioned you want to figure out how to reduce the file size of a picture. Try this.

1. As a start you can download a freeware called Printkey 2000 at the following link.

http://www.freewareweb.com/cgi-bin/archive.cgi?download=1&ID=292

2. I love Printkey 2000 to manage screenshots of all kinds.

3. You can either use the Printkey 2000 tool or just do a file save of the picture and save it as a JPEG or GIF file. Then capture the picture and do a copy/paste or do a file link save into the fastrunningblog picture section.

4. Once you get the hang of capturing a picture into the blog you can change pictures very easily.

5. Good luck and keep on running.

Paul

Todd, also a web page that is an awesome resource for running information and guidance. http://www.letsrun.com/

This web site has a wealth of running information. If you scroll about 2/3 of the way down the web site you will get to the section titled: Training Advice:

A wealth of the training advice reinforces what Sasha Pachev suggests as the keys to a life of successful running and achieving your running potential.

A few of the articles that I have looked at are noted below:

- Top 10 Training Tips

- No Shortcuts

- Wejo Speaks: Why I Sucked in College (an awesome article)

And looking at the titles of many other articles suggests there is a wealth of great reading here.

Enjoy, Paul

I used to not even hesitate to run 15 miles but this was tough.

Started at 5:20am, and by mile 1 I was soaking, it was so humid, I checked the weather and it was only 74 degrees but 99% humidity so at least I have a bit of an excuse.  Actually looking forward to getting back to Windsor and doing some winter training.  Avg around 8 min miles for the easy miles, maybe a bit more than that.  I picked up to 7:18 for 3 miles around mile 7 to 10. then ran easy until the last mile when I spotted some guys running about .3 miles ahead so I went out and caught them running the last mile in 6:50.

At least its done and I am getting that base back slowly from the stress fx.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE, I am happy to have found this site.

Paul I will try and get that picture done, thanks for the advice, hard to get things done on holidays with 3 little ones.
